Magnetic Styling Boards

We recently completed a project for a premier online fashion supplier who were looking for a set of magnetic styling boards for use in their offices. The boards needed to be double sided to allow writing on one face and holding items magnetically on the other. They were then required to hang from shelving units positioned around the office for storage.

The purpose of the magnetic styling boards is to provide an area to store ideas, inspiration and thoughts for upcoming ranges and seasons. This planning work involves multiple members of staff so being portable is key. People can work in collaboration when the boards are hung up, remove and carry them to desks to work individually or move them to meeting rooms for more formal discussions.

To make sure the magnetic styling boards were portable enough to be carried round the office between various desks and departments we produced them from a lightweight but rigid core material that the dry wipe and magnetic face laminates were fitted to. The magnetic side was finished in matt black to match with the office decor and the dry wipe side a gloss white to enable writing. We then added a radius to the corners and fitted black PVC edge lipping for extra protection and ease of use.

For the hanging method we developed a shelf bracket, again finished in matt black, which when fitted to the existing shelves left two pegs that the magnetic styling boards could be lifted onto and off again as required. The boards have corresponding holes cut through the face allowing them to drop onto the bracket pegs.

Having been to site and installed the boards we are now in the process of producing more for the client so we hope that this is a sign of the products success.
