As one of the UK’s leading universities, University College London (UCL) constantly strives to create learning environments that drive collaboration, creativity, and academic excellence. At Logovisual we are delighted to have played a part in this ongoing development by designing and supplying our ThinkingWall whiteboard systems.
For several years, Logovisual has collaborated with UCL and their architectural and design partners Kendall Kingscott and T&B Interiors to support the university’s mission of modernising its teaching spaces. This relationship reflects a shared commitment to designing environments that enhance engagement and learning outcomes. The latest project to bring their teaching spaces up to today’s demanding standards involved installing wall mounted and mobile whiteboards across several buildings on the campus.
In this phase of development, UCL introduced several solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of their teaching spaces:
These large-format whiteboards offer a sleek, high-performance surface ideal for brainstorming, note-taking, and presenting ideas during lectures and workshops. Panels were made to bespoke sizes to optimise wall space, with multiple panels joined together as necessary. Integrated pen trays run the full length of each whiteboard section.
Fitted alongside the ThinkingWall whiteboards in all rooms, these panels provide both a functional and aesthetic upgrade. The etched design adds a modern touch while their acoustic properties help minimise noise, creating the optimal environment for learning. Introducing biophilic tones, the combination of acoustic panels and whiteboards was designed to create a complete wrap to all walls in the teaching space.
As well as wall mounted solutions, we installed ThinkingWall Mobile Acoustic Freestanders in listed spaces where period wall features meant that wall mounted whiteboards and acoustic panels were not an option. These versatile wheeled units combine whiteboard with acoustic panel to reduce echo and noise. This makes them particularly valuable on the feature wooden floors to baffle reverberation from conversations and footfall.
We hope the partnership with Logovisual will continue to play a crucial role as UCL evolves its learning environments. By combining innovative design with practical solutions, these collaborations ensure that the university remains at the forefront of educational excellence.
Founded in 1826, UCL is a global leader in research and education. Located in Bloomsbury, a historic area of central London, UCL serves a diverse student body from over 150 countries, with over 45,000 students and 14,000 staff members.
