Backlit Giant Whiteboard – ThinkingWall
We were asked by Primeast, performance improvement specialists based in Harrogate, if LED lighting could be integrated into a ThinkingWall® frameless whiteboard to create a backlit whiteboard.
Magnetic whiteboards for the wall are a timeless tool for group thinking
Adding a big whiteboard to Primeast’s space allowed the team to improve their idea sharing. There was a large blank wall in the office that was the perfect place to create a focal point and we manfufactured a custom-sized wall-mounted magnetic whiteboard to fit the space perfectly. This careful fitting created a premium aesthetic, with the board a clear design choice rather than an off the shelf solution.
To further draw attention to the board, encouraging use and contributing further to the thoughtful interior design, we installed a backlight. The primary purpose of this was to create a professional appearance with a contemporary, premium look.
In addition to its refined finish, the backlight captured attention, drawing the eye towards the board and its content. The collaborative discussions shared by the Primeast team naturally receive more attention, with information remaining highly visible, keeping audiences engaged.
How we added light to the full wall whiteboard
The requirement was for a soft glow of light to wash the wall behind the ThinkingWall® to highlight it as a focal point within their meeting room. After some thought by our design team, we decided the space created behind the whiteboard panels by the floating frame was ideal to position a lighting system.
The gap between the wall and the back of the whiteboard panel allows enough space to conceal the wiring and also gives enough distance for the spread of light to create a soft glow rather than pin point light from each individual bulb. We selected an LED strip light that could be cut to size and wired around the perimeter of the backlit whiteboard. This was powered by a single transformer and three pin plug for ease of use.
As part of a system of products ThinkingWall® is custom made to suit a clients requirements. It allows additional items to be added to create an individual solution, the lighting system being just one example.
With advances in LED technology there is a wide range of colours and lighting styles available we can easily add to a ThinkingWall®. We can design a custom sized whiteboard with lights, or alternatively our ThinkingWall® Mobile Acoustic Cupboard Combi and Acoustic Shelves units also have integrated lighting options.
